The Story

Back in July of 1997, Nico posted a bunch of flyers around Boston that said:

The first person to call him was a girl named Wendy. She was in Boston for the summer, having one year left in college in NY, but she said she'd move back to Boston after graduation. He received a few more calls after that, including one from a professional dominatrix and several Berklee students who all said they wanted to be in a project.

Later that year, Nico was joined by Brandon, jazz drummer extraordinaire (they'd played together in a Quintet back in college.) Trocadero played its first show on November 3, 1997, at TT The Bear's place in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Since then, the band has played more shows around Boston, recorded some stuff, hibernated, played some more shows, recorded some more stuff, hibernated, toured, hibernated, recorded some more stuff, put out a CD, shortly after which Wendy left the band to join another Boston act. Trocadero hibernated some more, and in 2007, the band was joined by Martha Williams on slide guitar and vocals, and Jeff Williams (no relation) on keyboards.

Trocadero's sound is created by Nico on Danelectro baritone guitar and vocals, Martha on slide guitar and vocals, Jeff on Moog, Kurzweil, and other assorted keyboards, and Brandon on drums and Moog Taurus pedals, a 1970s synth dinosaur whose range fits somewhere in between Barry White and an earthquake.
