DarkFae was a fake profile that was created and befriended various people. Nobody knew that she was simply a creation of somebody else. Eventually, the owner of the profile decided that she no longer wished to have it and killed her off in October 2005.
Post-Mortem
Following the supposed death of DarkFae, her karma was set to 99 along with Scott81385. Many people throughout the community changed their avatars in memorial to her. However, small details became evidence of a larger conspiracy and eventually, there were attempts to reveal the truth. Early on, as revelations became clear that there may have been a conspiracy, mods locked down each of the first seven threads that were created.
As each thread advanced, more information became clear that the profile was fake. Finally, on the eighth incarnation of the thread, it was allowed to stay open.
